Sunday Travel Log and Cute Overload.......

Or, there's something for everyone in this post, so keep reading, or if you don't like reading just look at the pictures.

~

Esslingen Burg.

You know who got me up and out of the house on Sunday afternoon. We went for a drive around Stuttgart, stopping in at a couple of favorite towns. Esslingen was first, if you haven't been, at least go during the Weinacht's Market. Their Medieval section is fantastic. Rathaus.

Love the painting.

I want this door knob.

Our second stop was Waiblingen. This door was small. Smaller than me.

The wall around the city, I wonder how it's still standing.

Market house where we happened onto a car rally. We should have just drove our 450 on up into the square.

The only thing we were missing was one of these yellow tags.

While you know who contemplated the possibility of showing our car at one of these rallys, I took the opportunity to do this.

Reflections can be fun.

My first car was a Plymouth Belvedere. This was not it. I kinda wish it had been. Sorry Mom, just sayin.

This was more like what my car looked like. Mine was blue. The lacquer flaked off the top when I drove anywhere. People called it the dandruff car. I was lucky to have that car. Have you gone to the Mercedes Museum?

Now for cute.
~
I started this bag Friday night. It's the Frenchy Bag by Amy Butler. I used Natural Effects by Michelle D'Amore for Marcus fabrics. We just got this line in the shop and I love it.

I decided to add a small bag and key fob. You can hook the key fob onto the bag and make it a wristlet. There's also a ring inside to latch it onto so you don't lose your keys at the bottom. I had enough fabric left over to make the handbag version. Including all the same accoutrements.

The stiped fabric is fun.
Thanks for stopping by.

It started to rain

Just as I finished Jessica's quilt, I took it outside to try and get a decent photo. It was raining. I tried anyway. I had to put it on the ground in front of my apartment and run back inside, stand on a stool on my little balcony to be able to get the whole quilt in. One day I will have a wall to hang quilts on when I photograph them. That would be nice. There are things that didn't go quite the way I wanted. I still like it alot. I learned that I cannot talk on the phone and cut a quilt top at the same time. That was a hard lesson.
Hope you like it Jess.

Saturday

I've been meaning to do this for awhile now and today was the day. I went over to Schoeniach, to see a quilt shop called PatchCom. The owner, Brigit Klein was having a quilt fest. People brought their quilts to display while they were shopping, taking part in activities, watching demos or having coffee and visiting in a beautiful outdoor area. There were a really nice variety of quilts. Nadine Ruggles was there with a ton of her Inchies, she makes it look so easy. Everytime I see her mini works of art, I want to try making some. Brigit's shop is a lovely light filled space. If you haven't made it out there, I would recommend a visit.
~

I was able to get this quilted and bound in a realatively short time. I had fun making these silly meandering flowers and I love the rich colors of the Kaffee Fassett fabrics.

One more down a million more to go.....

It started back on Wednesday

I was finally able to get my race car quilt bound. I like how it turned out. I pieced the back pretty randomly. All I need to do is add my tag.
I made two tassels for my new cabinet.
They aren't very good, but they kept me occupied for about three hours on my sick day....

I started sewing Friday night and pretty much didn't stop all weekend. I took time out to cook for the guys but other than that I was working on projects.
~
Speical order for Jennifer. Oh, except for the tape measure one. She just ordered me to do that one.
Sherie's apron. You know who said he'd take the picture as long as Brinkley could be in it.
I made it reversible, because it's fun. Thanks Jennifer for pointing out that the Chambray was a perfect match!
Since I was on a roll, I made this baby sized quilt top and back with Kaffe Fasset charm squares. I think I love it.

Yep, pretty sure I do.
I also finally got the back together for Jessica's quilt. I hope to get both of these on the machine and quilted soon!!

Repurposing, again

There is a thrift shop that You Know Who and I like to go to on Saturdays. He likes it as much as I do, which makes it even more fun. I've had my eye on this item for about 3 months. I kept thinking, don't do it, there's no room, for goodness sake, where will you put it.
~ This past Saturday seeing the price had dropped again, I sighed and walked on past this funky monstrosity (five feet long, six feet high). Then I heard words, magical words, "If you get rid of the Ikea shelves, you can get the cabinet." Nice guy that he is, he brought it home for me just on the promise that I would.... Several hours later...... My new craft room storage. As if that wasn't enough treasure for the day, after two years of searching, I finally found a marble piece in good enough condition to bring home. It used to be a dresser top. Now it's my counter in my kitchen. It is sitting on a kitchen cart from Ikea. (I love Ikea, I hate Ikea)

What a fun and tiring day!
